Is Cheese the Culprit?

In January I had a 5 week long migraine.  It was awful and no matter what I did it wouldn't let up.  It was devastating to say the least.  My kids were also effected because lets face it, when you don't feel good, you can't be the fun loving mom you were with out the headache, though try as I might.  In desperation I went on line. I have had migraines for years and wanted to see if their was a trigger that I hadn't heard of, maybe I was doing something wrong, maybe people with high sugars get more migraines?  I didn't know so I typed in migraine triggers in the search engine and voila...I came to the Mayo Clinic and WebMD, two sites I trust with medical advice.  What shocked me was the triggers I had NEVER been told of. Yes, caffeine, red wine, pony tail to tight;)  Yep...heard all that before.  Hormones?  Yep...but Cheese?  Yes cheese.  Now if you think about a low carb, low sugar diet that I am on, you think...mmm cheese might be something she has a lot of. Yes, it was.  I LOVE melts...toasted wheat bread, deli turkey and white cheddar.  I probably had cheese every day.  A small square for a snack etc...you get where I am going.  So to my horror cheese, especially cheddar and feta, both of which I eat a lot of, were on that list.  So for the past month I have stayed completely away from cheese.  I am happy to report that I am currently migraine free for one month and hormonally...I should be a wreck right now.  I can't say that my migraines are gone forever but for the past few weeks, not even a hint of a headache which is TOTALLY different than where I was for the past few years.  I actually removed my prescription for migraines off of my bathroom counter top and put it away in the medicine cabinet. That is how often I was into my migraine pills.  Daily for the most part.  It was such a significant  event, the removal of the headache pills that I am willing to forgo cheese to be pill free and headache free. Now like I said, I don't know if this is permanent, but even if  I have half the headaches I had before, I will be happy.  Lets hope for all headaches gone...gosh what would that be like:)  Now...I found an article also on Cosmetic Surgery...a wrinkle surgery that is supposed to get rid of migraines also;)  Ok...I am not to that point but found it entertaining to say the least;)  When I get a bit older...maybe I will consider it:) HAHA...Now all my family reading this will be closely monitoring my forehead at the family reunions to see if I am wrinkle free...oh I mean headache free!:)  Have a good week all and hopefully those who suffer from headaches like I do, can also find some relief in these food triggers.

I also get terrible migraines. I feel for you. Have you seen a neurologist in a headache clinic? There are some vitamins that you can take that can help as well. I have seen a neurologist for about 10 years now and it has def. helped and things change all the time as they learn more about them...
